“Cosmetics for vegans”
Before I start I want to say a big thank you to the lovely people over at Vegan Fox who reached out to me and offered to send me some products to try.
This is not a sponsored post, nor did VF ask me to blog about it. I was simply asked to try the products out and tell them what I think, and of course I was happy to do so!
About Vegan Fox
Vegan Fox are a small beauty business with a presence already in Europe and the Caribbean who has recently expanded to the UK. They offer a wide range of Vegan, Cruelty Free, Natural & Eco Friendly cosmetics and toiletries, Check out their website (then come back to read more) http://vegan-fox.com/en/
The Shopping Experience
I love the style of their site, it’s clean pretty and easy to navigate. Each product is clearly shown with it’s weight before you even select to view, as someone who always checks the weight of anything I’m buying, I found this incredibly satisfying.
They have included a “Why Vegan Fox” page and if like me you have never heard of them before you can easily navigate your way here where it will clearly explain the reasons for choosing VF which I think, is a lovely touch!
One thing which I found a little odd was that you can’t actually purchase these products through the VF website, you have to click on the “where to buy tab” to be redirected to another online shop that sells the product… It wouldn’t put me off buying from them, would just be nice to have everything in one place.
As I received these products for free I did not receive a full “customer experience” but the people at VF are very friendly, delivery was fast & products were well packaged.
Lavender Shower Gel
Now, I was a little unsure when I first saw this shower gel in the box as I have to say, Lavender… not ma thang. However, when I popped that lid and had a lil sniff I noticed that the smell wasn’t too overbearing.
After using the shower gel as both a bath soak and with a body puff as a shower gel, I can say that this is probably the only lavender shower product I have ever enjoyed. It doesn’t smell like the typical lavender stuff you find in your Nan’s bathroom… it has almost a vanilla undertone too it which is extremely pleasant.
It’s not the most moisturising shower product I have used, but the overall experience is very nice, it lathers very well and you only need a very small amount for to get a good body wash!
This shower gel costs £4.75 for 200ml which I feel like that is a little pricey for a simple lavender shower gel, but it is still lovely and I guess it just depends on what you are willing to pay for a product like this.
Peppermint Body Scrub
Ok, so I’m fresh out the shower writing this and lemme tell you, this is one of THE BEST body scrubs I have ever used.
Wow wow wow… I got so excited when I first saw the scrub in the box as I have been somewhat of a body scrub-aholic for the past few months. Leading up to my holiday I wanted to achieve smooth, ultra soft skin and ended up using scrubs like they were going out of fashion, so I’ve had my fair share.
Firstly, it smells fantastic! One of those products that smells so good you want to eat it instead of wear it. Secondly, you can tell it’s a handmade product, and I LOVE that! The large grains of salt exfoliated my skin beautifully and gave me nostalgic feelings of making my own scrubs out of shower gel and sugar when I was younger (I had no idea what I was doing)
The smell is just as pleasent in the shower as it is straight out the tub, but be warned you will need to rise your bathtub/shower down afterwards as it gets a little messy, in my opinion it’s well worth it. And finally, my skin stepping out the shower felt soft, refreshed and energised thanks to the added elements of Grape seed oil and Shea butter, Lovely Jubbly.
I could go on more about this scrub but I want to get into the pricing. This 300g tub is £9.99 If you ask me, that may seem a little pricey. But for a salt body scrub from LUSH you will end up paying £15.95 for 250g of scrub… Less product for more money, it’s a no brainier that VF is the better option!
10/10 would recommend, purchase and share with a friend!
Refreshing Foot Cream
And finally, this “foot cream” surprised me a little. When I first squeezed the tube I was greeted with more of a gel like substance rather than a typical cream. Straight away I could smell the tea tree and I think a hint of peppermint, I wasn’t mad at it in fact it was extremely pleasant.
Straight away when you rub this gel onto your feet you get an instant cooling sensation, it absorbs very quickly into the skin without leaving them feeling greasy… I dunno about you but one thing I cannot stand is lingering moisturiser, especially on the feet.
The cooling feeling lasted for about 5 minutes, I can imagine coming home after a long day being on my feet giving them (or asking my boyfriend) a rub with this gel and instantly feeling refreshed. Overall I really liked this foot cream and would purchase it! They do also offer a nourishing foot cream if you wanted something a little more moisturising.
This foot cream is £11.99 for 120ml which is a little on the pricey side but if you are really into your foot products and need something to cool and relax our tootsies at the end of a long day, this is the product for you!
Overall I really enjoyed using everything I received from Vegan Fox. I would definitely re purchase the body scrub as I think it is not only an amazing product but great value for money too.
I love that they use the word vegan proudly and don’t shy away from it to make them more popular, many companies these days tend to not use the word “vegan” as it could scare a lot of people away, not these guys. It’s front and centre all over their beautiful packaging.
If you would like to try these products, or have used them before please share your experience with me in the comments below, and don’t forget to share with me any other small vegan businesses you would like me to review!
